Council Meeting.—The board of aldermen will meet at 3 this afternoon, to finally pass the railway bonus by-law, and afterwards will confer with the owners of a number of condemned shacks.
Regrettable Accident.—During the process of decorating the interior of Assembly hall, Fort street, preparatory to the hospital ball given yesterday even mg, a bluejacket from H. M. S. War-spite fell from a ladder, breaking his arm in two places. He was removed to the navy hospital.
iieieucy, and at the conclusion of the exorcises highly complimented all concerned on the sucessful manner in which the various movements were executed.
The members of the two companies of | d girl pupils were attired in a natty uniform, consisting of scarlet blouses, with black trimmings and dark blue skirts. They presented a very pretty and pleasing appearance as they performed the different evolutions. The youthful Amazons marched splendidly, were prompt in obeying orders and gave evidence of having been carefully trained. The boys displayed greater proficiency and marched somewhat better than the girls, whose movements were necessarily impeded to some extent by the hampering tendency of skirts.
The different movements which were executed were as follows:
No. 1—Companies marched two deep to the left hand west corner of the parade grounds; right about wheel; into line, front form: halt: eyes right, dress.
No. 2.—Form fours right; front; form fours, left; front; about turn, form fours: front; stand at ease; attention.
No. 3.—Companies ndvance by left, quick march; retire, about turn; advance, front turn; form fours, right, left wheel: retire; about turn; advance, front turn; front form.
No. 4 —Company advance; form fours, left; left wheel; rear form; halt; front.
Xo. 5.—Company advance at quick march; right turn; about turn; front turn; form fours; left wheel; form two deep; left wheel; form fours; left wheel; form two deep; form fours; left wheel; halt; front; eyes right, dress.
Xo. 6.—Company advance at quick march; right turn; by half companies, left wheel; half companies, retire; about turn; advance; front turn; front form; forward by the left.
Xo. 7—Right form; retire; about turn; ndvance; about turn; left turn; front form; retire; about turn; advance; front turn; left form; left turn: rear form; front.
At the conclusion of the performance of the different evolutions, Major Williams gave his decision in favor of No. 2 Co. (boys), first: No. 1 Co. (girls), sec-one; No. 3 Co. (girls), third.
A series of athletic sports were afterwards indulged in.
Chinese Question.—At their regular meeting on Wednesday evening tho Trades and Labor Council decided to memorialize the city council to do all they could to supply Mr. F. .T. Deane, secretary of the Chinese commission, with what information they can get on the question of Chinese immigration.
